VAB’s long-distance bus ITCS – real-time information in long-distance bus travel
Verkehrsautomatisierung Berlin has been closely involved in the long-distance bus travel market since it was liberalised in 2013. With enactment of Regulation (EU) No. 181/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 February 2011 on the rights of passengers in bus and coach transport and amending Regulation No. 2006/2004 with effect from 1 March 2013, the collection of real-time data on the transportation processes of companies providing long-distance bus travel has become significantly more important.
Verkehrsautomatisierung Berlin has taken on the specific requirements of long-distance bus travel and offers long-distance bus travel ITCS on the basis of the VABnet product.

- Transparent and immediately available driver and run identification by registration process at the driver terminal
- Vehicle-autonomous timetable situation information for the driver and the passengers
- Automatised message exchange between dispatcher and driver
- Congestion bypass by dynamic route navigation taking traffic information into account
- Dynamic and highly accurate prognoses of arrival times at stations en route and at the central bus station
- Europa-wide, routing tailored to bus traffic with regard to clearance heights, weight and transit bans
- Support for dispatcher in the OCC with provision of tabular and graphic representation of state of operations
- Vehicle representation on the digital map in the OCC and on the monitor in the vehicle
- Support of internal connection guarantee
