VABnet control and information systems ITCS
The dispatcher has the full range of services of a modern ITCS at his disposal. The system is designed so that it can be used in the control center on a stationary computer and in mobile use.
Vehicle Tracking and Visualization
In VABnet, geo-referenced tracking and visualization of the actual route of included vehicles is carried out. The visualization is done in digital OSM® maps. User-specific layers can be added, for example, to display the route network including stops and stations or the actual line routes.
Schematic representations such as the line band provide a quick and intuitive overview of current traffic events.
Connection protection
This functionality takes over both the monitoring of internal connections and the securing of connections from or to external companies (VDV 453 ANS).
Dynamic passenger information
For dynamic passenger information, deviations and arrival forecasts are continuously determined for each trip based on a reference timetable. This data can be used for real-time data supply in accordance with VDV 454 AUS from passenger information portals and/or for direct control of display panels (VDV 453 DFI).
Management of on-demand transport
RideHailing, RideSharing, OnDemand – demand-oriented forms of operation go by many names today. With VABnet, the organization, processing and billing of on-demand transport can be optimized.
Dispositive measures
Operators, transport service providers or traffic controllers are essential for operational implementation. VABnet provides them with the full range of dispositive measures. Whether it's a trip cancellation, the elimination of individual stops, a long or short turnaround, an additional trip, a booster or a suddenly necessary detour, VABnet supports the company in providing reliable services and ensures that
passenger information also provides reliable information in the event of disruptions.
Communication
No system can replace good communication! A good ITCS supports dispatchers and drivers in communication and offers the route that is geared to demand in an uncomplicated way. VABnet integrates text messages as well as voice communication and relies either on public mobile radio (VoIP communication) or TETRA. Of course, all VDV call procedures (single/group/accident/attack call) that are common in public transport are mapped.
Interfaces
In a world of networked systems, the availability of open and standardized interfaces is essential.
VABnet uses standards and sets standards itself.
For timetable, passenger information and data exchange, the interfaces VDV 452/453/454 and 461, as well as the SIRI equivalents, are supported.
For communication between the vehicle and the control center, VAB has implemented a quasi-standard with the “IP air interface”, which is used today to connect ticket printers and OBUs from practically all ticketing providers in German-speaking countries to VABnet control centers.
Determining quality indicators
To automatically determine quality indicators, the times of readiness at the departure stop and the arrival and departure times at all stops are compared with the timetable specifications. The monitored trip is referenced to the timetable valid for the day of service. The recorded raw data can be selected and post-processed according to customer specifications in order to create punctuality reports at defined measuring points. It is also possible to automatically supply the QM systems of the public transport authorities via online interfaces.
