Control technology for modern LRT systems
For many years, Verkehrsautomatisierung Berlin GmbH, as a system provider, has been working with Hanning & Kahl GmbH & Co KG to provide modular hardware and software solutions in the field of signaling and control technology.
This portfolio has recently been expanded to include the new on-board computer family VABnet obu (on-board unit).
VABnet obu works as a central vehicle unit and communicates with the touch control terminals in the two driver cabs and the components for visual and acoustic passenger information via Ethernet bus. Further device systems, such as the HCS reporting transmission system from Hanning & Kahl, can be connected via the RS 485 serial interface. In this case, the input commands required to switch points are entered at the driver's touch control terminal.
The development of the on-board computer software is based on many years of experience in the use of smartphones and tablets as driver devices. All typical control system functionalities such as determining, monitoring and visualizing vehicle locations and timetable status, as well as data, text and voice communication between the vehicle and control center are available.
The control center (OCC) continues to offer the proven views for visualizing the operational situation:
- Signaling view of the route, depots including vehicle locations
- Cartographic view of the routes in the “city map” with vehicle positions and punctuality
- Line band with stop overview and vehicle positions
- Tabular view of all trips in the route network
